Frankie and Jana

The name of my favorite class is "Estética Cinematográfica". We used to watch differents movies in class and the we had to analyze the aesthetic aspects of those movies. We usually had class discussions like debates, and everyone would comment about different things they thought were interesting about the movie we watched each class. Some of the main contents of the class were cinematographic styles of different parts of the world, aspects like lighting, colors, camerawork, and the rhythm of the film were important elements of the class. We analyzed Russian, Japanese, European, and Latin american films and the things that made them special. I liked the Japanese films the most, I remember watching "Dreams" by Akira Kurosawa and immediately falling in love with it. I even stayed after the class had ended to discuss the movie with my profesor, who was surprised that the movie had such a great impact on me. When I was younger I used to hear the same music that my brother heard, we spent a lot of time listening to The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Los Bunkers, and Illapu. When I was in fourth grade I learnt how to play the flute and my flute teacher showed me a lot of chilean music for me to play. After that my music spectrum opened up greatly and I started listening to bands and artists such as Congreso, Violeta Parra, Inti Illimani and Los Jaivas. When I grew up I discovered what kind of music I really liked as I listened to Charly García and Luis Alberto Spinetta, whose musical style is much more experimental and innovative for the time it was created in. In fact, I will be attending to Charly García's concert on the 13th of June with my boyfriend and some friends. It makes me feel very excited because I have been waiting for a long time for an opportunity to see him.

Wesley Wales Anderson, better known as Wes Anderson is an American Filmmaker known for films wich include "The Royal Tenenbaums", "The Grand Budapest Hotel", "Moonrise Kingdom" and "Isle of Dogs". He was born on May 1st, 1969 in Houston, Texas. He studied in Univesity of Texas in Austin. During childhood he began writing plays and making super 8 short movies. His films are known for their particular way to making movies. You can easily recognize a Wes Anderson film by the cinematography and the art direction. He has received a lot of rewards by the Academy, like one BAFTA, two Golden Berlin Bear, one COFCA Award, among other. Anderson has a unique cinematography, probably 'cause is aesthetic and colorful.  I chose this Director 'cause I really like his style and also I've watched the majority of his films.  This is one of my favorites analog photographs. It was taken by Lucas, my boyfriend, on February. I have many reasons why I like it, one of them is that it reminds me to a beautiful trip that I lived with Lucas' family in Matanzas, a small town located in Chile. I feel that the photograph represent how is the beach, pretty cold and lonely, but despite this, the entire town it felt welcoming. Another reason is that I like the composition of the photography, I feel is pretty harmonic with a spot of light on the right side, cause it balances the man and the rock. Another aesthetic reason is I really like the way the contrast goes very nicely between the man and the sea, It was a really good decision by Lucas, the right place and moment. I think it was one of my favorite of that roll.

I didn't have many options to choose from 'cause I usually use just my computer, cellphone and analog camera, so I chose the last one. I love taking pictures, and lately I've been using my analog camera that my father gave to me a few years ago, and that's one the reasons why it is so special for me, 'cause that camera is what was used to take all of my childhood's photographs. Another reason is that I can't immediately see the picture I took and that forces me to think better about the picture I want to take in the moment. I usually carry my camera to every place I go because there are many beautiful things in the world and you never know when a good frame can appear, so my life would be boring if I did not have my camera.

I really enjoy series, one of my favorites series is Game of Thrones, wich this Sunday will premiere the last chapter of the entire serie. I'm so excited about that, cause 10 members of my family watch the serie, so it's a family event. This Sunday we are going to wear costumes of the serie's characters, so I think it will be funny. But I also like other series, like Peaky Blinders, Breaking Bad, Dark, Black Mirror etc. I usually like drama series, but lately I've been searching short series, 'cause University demand a lot of time. I really enjoy a good screenplay and art design by the way. I have a long list of movies to watch in my mobile, one of them is Twin Peaks and Mr. Robot. I want to watch them because a lot of people that I know has told me that are great series. For now I keep waiting for this Sunday.
